EurOccupations

The project in a nutshell

The project in a nutshell

In May 2006, the project 'EurOccupations' has started. In this project, 10 European universities and research institutes are developing an occupations database, including information on approximately 1,500 occupations of all skill levels in the whole range of industries (from care and welfare to technology and manufacturing, from service occupations to agriculture and fishing).

Approximately 1,500 occupations will be generally described within the context of 8 countries, i.e. Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK. The descriptions will include information such as occupational title and required educational level. Please note that the required educational level for the same occupation may differ between countries. Therefore the database offers an in insight into the comparability of educational structures within Europe.

Additionally, a selection of 150 occupations will be described in more detail. For these 'key occupations, the database will include country-specific task descriptions, occupational requirements and required core competences. In this way, the database offers insight into the comparability of occupational structures and occupational content within Europe. The 150 key occupations will be described in detail for all countries mentioned, except Italy.
